Brotteaux district which occupies the northeastern part of the 6th arrondissement of Lyon (69006) has a name marked by the station of the same name, built in 1858 and operated at the time as the station of Geneva. The destinations served by that station on the PLM (Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée) were actually Ambérieu and Geneva.

The present building of the station, now abandoned and replaced by the Gare de Lyon Part-Dieu, the date of 1908. Between 2002 and 2006 work has been done to restore the look of the early last century. Now houses a gallery auctions, a brewery and various other activities it is classified a historical monument since 1983.

Memory facilities of the nineteenth century, the railway station Brotteaux owes its name to place at a time later occupied the area between the current quarter and the Rhone or the entire 6th arrondissement. All this vast alluvial plain, on which the Parc de la Tête d'Or has found its origin, has been progressively built from the late eighteenth century under the leadership of Jean-Antoine Morand who is also the bridge over Rhône built in the woods in 1775 and intended to link the Terreaux Brotteaux (pont Morand).

The area is also, like many neighborhoods Lyons, synonymous with food and great chefs like Paul Bocuse and Georges Blanc have recently installed a restaurant that everyone with the brewery located in the old station help make this neighborhood a lively and pleasant place to live.
