Today, Lyon's "University district" is in fact a university with several campuses or centers spread throughout the city and its nearby suburbs. Until the 1950s and 1960s the departments of Arts, Sciences and Law were located in buildings on the left bank of the Rhone built around the Pont de l'Université (‘University Bridge') and the street of the same name in the 7th District of Lyon (69007). Only the medical school was located near the main hospital in Grange Blanche, today known as Edouard Herriot Hospital.
These buildings have kept all their time stamp and the spectacle offered by the night lights of their upper parts is interesting to discover in the foreground with the bed of the Rhone. Now occupied by part of the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and Jean Moulin Lyon 3 they are the witnesses of university life in Lyon.
